Adventures in Denver, Colorado!!

Well, we just had an awesome couple of days in Denver Colorado visiting John's best friend for his 30th birthday! Although it was Shaun's B-day, I think we got the better end of the visit :) Shaun and his girlfriend, Kelly, took us all over, so we could see as much as possible.
Saturday was mostly full of relaxing and BBQing, but Sunday and Monday were full of activities. Sunday, Shaun (he's a pilot) took John gliding! What an experience, gliding over the Rocky Mountains! After that we went into Boulder, CO for some lunch and walking around - fun town, very hippy/Zen. The last stop on Sunday was Chautauqua -a part of the Rockies. Monday was probably one of the most memorable things we have done. We went to the top of Mount Evans - 14,258 ft!!! It has a paved road that goes to the top of the mountain and then you have to hike about 150 ft to the pinnacle. So, we did! It was AMAZING! The hike was pretty easy except the whole lack of air from being 14,000 ft in the air and the fact that it was 44 degrees and we were dressed for 80 :)
It was a great trip and below are a few pics to enjoy.

Getting ready to get towed up!
Coming in for their landing.
All of us in front of Chautauqua!
Sunset from Shaun's balcony!!
Thanks to Baby Pidge we got this pic. Katie had to go to the bathroom and so we pulled over at a bathroom stop and right through the bushes was this picturesque spot - Echo Lake!
Echo Lake (this pic might have be put up in our house!)
Looking down on Echo Lake. What beauty!

Katie and Kelly. Soon we'll be on top of those mountains looking down!
At the TOP! 14,258 ft!!
The official marking at the pinnacle.

This pic is to prove our baby was at 14,258 ft!

The boys.

We saw some wildlife on the way back down - this is the long-horned goat.

Feeling at Home . . . FINALLY!

We painted our bedroom this weekend and finally could unpack the rest of our stuff. It is so "comfy" now! This was a huge project that we just kept putting on the back burner because the room is so big, but it's DONE!!! All we have left is the baby's room and the house is done (well kinda) :) Here are some before and after pics for you all to enjoy!

Offically Pregnant!

Well, apparently we went to San Diego and Katie came back with a "baby bump"! We don't know what happened, Katie woke up Monday morning and thought she looked a little bigger, but dismissed it. There was no denying that something had changed when she walked in the door from work and John's face said it all and the conversation that followed went something like this - Katie: "Why are you looking at me?" John: "No reason." Katie: "No, really why?" John: "Your stomach, it looks, well . . . pregnant!" - So we thought it was time for the standard pregnancy "photo op".

3rd Anniversary Trip to San Diego

First stop was Ocean Beach. We sat on the beach and watched the surf contest that was going on. It was a perfect day for beaching! Then we walked down the main street to Hodad's - an O.B. hot spot- we had some of the best onion rings EVER!! (Hodad's was also featured on "Diners, Drive-In's, and Dives")
After Ocean Beach we headed over to the Hyatt in downtown San Diego. This is ONE of the views from our room! It had three huge windows that gave beautiful views of the bay!
Sunset from our room!
For dinner that night we walked to the famous "Gaslamp Quarter" and had dinner at the Hard Rock!
Waiting for dinner (starving!) and a little sunburned :)

Sunday, we walked around the port area to get a closer view of all the Navy ships that were there. This is a HUGE statue that is right on the bay. Katie thought is was so cute so . . .We had to give it a try ourselves :) Last photo spot before heading back home.On our way home, we stopped at Carlsbad for some more relaxing at the beach and then made the trip home. It was an awesome anniversary trip . . . yay for 3 years!
